Tim Stones running in the Prison to Prison Half Marathon SATim's back in the racing habit running in the Prison to Prison half-marathon.
Tim ran a half-marathon (21.1km) on Saturday 6 February, in Worcester, South Africa. It was the Prison to Prison half-marathon. His time was 94:53min, and he was 52nd overall. The course started with 5km within the Prison grounds, largely off-road (gravel), and then had 16km out-and-back (8km plus 8km), over a very hilly route. It was 32 degrees celsius on the day! What a lucky guy!

James in the High JumpFollowing on from the GB Deaflympics get-together in London, James 'Tigger' Schofield hurried up to Cardiff to compete in the Welsh Indoor Champs

Here, he tells his story.

"Before the competition I was a little unsure how it was going to go - I haven't done as much training as I would have liked since Taipei (the best experience of my life!), where I peaked at the right time to produce a PB of 1m93 in an amazing competition.

Unlike at the Senior Championships, which were a closed competition, the age group championships were open and attracted athletes from the North of England and from Ireland as well as several Scottish athletes.

John entered both the 60m and the 200m events which had heats, semi finals and finals.

Candy running in XC ChampionshipsDUKA athlete Candy Hawkins continued with her preparation for the 2010 European Cross Country Championships with a superb run in the 2010 Kent County Cross Country Championships.  The event, which took place in Detling, the home of the Kent County Agricultural Society and Detling Steam Rally, saw Hawkins finish in a very creditable 15th position out of 44 runners in the senior women event.  Her time of 30.16 was not that far off from the 7,200m winning time of 24.43.

Tim Stones with certificateI have been having an exciting time in Athletics this month - even if it was off the road! I attended the Boland Athletics Technical Officials Symposium on 23 January 2010. The Boland is the province in South Africa in which I live (and a "province" is the equivalent of a British "County", eg Kent).

It was a full-day workshop, in which we analysed and discussed the revised IAAF rules and regulations, and strategised on the appropriate ways in which Athletics Technical Officials should operate at provincial and national level.
