The European Deaf Indoor Athletics Championships are held every 4 years. The 1st European Deaf Indoor Championships were held in Spala, Poland in March 2000; GB did not have any representatives. DUKA was formed in 2002 and in 2004; and we were able to send a small team. The team returned home with 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze, which was much better than we expected.
The 2008 Championships will be the 2nd time GB will send a team to this major indoor competition. However, with the 1st World Deaf Athletics Championships taking place in Venezuela in September 2008 and the Deaflympics in September 2009 in Taiwan; it is very important that financial resources are managed appropriately. The 2008 Championships, which will take place in the beautiful Italian City of Genova (Genoa) from 27th Feb to 1st March 2008; will have a small Great Britain team. Click here for the timetable
