Lauren ‘Superbaby’ Peffers breaks European Indoor Record in taking home Bronze Medal
Dunbar Running Club/Team Edingburgh and DUKA athlete ‘Superbaby’ Lauren is enjoying her new event – the 400m so much, she is improving all the time. At the Scottish Senior Closed Championships in Glasgow on 17th January 2009, she broke the European Deaf Indoor 400m record (still to be rectified) when she ran 57.44sec.
This improved on the 58.01s record previously held by Belarus’ Alena Tsiarentsyeva. “I am very pleased to start the 2008 season with a new European Record. I hope that I can further improve on it later, but the important thing is to remain injury free, enjoy training, competitions and not to peak too early in the season. My aim is the 2009 Deaflympics”, said a delighted Peffers.
The event is only new to her having had to move down from the 1500m in the last few months.
Congratulations to Lauren.
